Pupil Services Team

Pupil Services Bylaw:

Each local school system shall provide a coordinated program of pupil services for all students which shall include but not be limited to: guidance, pupil personnel, school psychology, and health services. The Pupil Services Program shall focus on the health, interpersonal, academic, and career development of students. (COMAR Title 13A.05.05)

Program Description:

The Pupil Services Team within each individual school is one component of an overall school program. Each pupil services discipline uses a systematic and integrated approach to deliver school-wide and individual strategies with the overall goal of assisting students to achieve academic, health, career, personal, and interpersonal competencies.

Each pupil services team includes a school administrator, school nurse, school counselor, pupil personnel worker, school psychologist, and other appropriate staff. This school team meets at regular intervals and analyzes data to plan, implement, and evaluate how it's members can most effectively meet student and school needs.

Parent involvement in the PST process is critical to the success of the program. Parents are encouraged to become involved in the School Improvement Team and to attend Pupil Services Team meetings if one is scheduled for their child.
