Important Notice - Tax Forms
1095-C Forms for tax year 2025 will be available online by March 2, 2026. Beginning with tax year 2025, SMCPS will no longer be printing and mailing 1095-C forms to employees.

- To access an electronic copy of your 1095-C form, please visit the Benefitplace website
- Log In
- Log to the top right of the page for "Quick Links" tab at the top right-hand corner of the page, Quick Links may be hidden in the mobile drop down menu is you are accessing with a mobile browser.
- Follow the instructions to access your form.

Marathon Employee Health Center
Free primary care for employees, retirees and dependents covered under an SMCPS health insurance plan. Get started on their website or call 240-744-1100.

Flexible Spending Account / Dependent Care FSA
A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is an employer-sponsored, tax-advantaged account that allows you to set aside pre-tax income from your paycheck to pay for qualified out-of-pocket medical, dental, vision or dependent care expenses.

Voluntary Life Insurance
As an SMCPS employee, you are eligible for group life insurance, with the monthly premium paid directly through your paycheck.
The Standard's optional (or voluntary) life insurance is an employer-sponsored benefit that allows employees to purchase additional life insurance coverage beyond the basic policy provided by the company. It provides extra financial protection for beneficiaries, covering expenses like funeral costs, debt, or income replacement.
AFLAC Supplemental Insurance

As an SMCPS employee, you are eligible to sign up for supplemental insurance plans offered through AFLAC. Read more in the AFLAC Group Product Overview.

Sick Leave Bank & Exchange
The SMCPS Joint Sick Leave Bank and Exchange allows employees to contribute to a pool of unused sick leave days, designed to allow for continued pay for members facing a serious illness or injury. The bank also allows members to exchange sick leave days, when permitted under the guidelines.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Provided by INOVA
Inova’s EAP offers a variety of benefits to SMCPS employees in the areas of work-life balance, grief and psychological counseling, legal assistance, financial guidance, childcare and eldercare assistance and daily living resources.

LifeLock Identity Protection
LifeLock is a comprehensive identity theft protection service, now part of Norton/Gen, that monitors your personal information, credit files, and dark web activity for signs of fraud. It provides alerts for suspicious activity (e.g., new loans, address changes) and offers restoration services to help recover your identity if it is stolen.

Retirement Resources
Membership in the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System is mandatory for all SMCPS employees at the time of hire. Employees contribute 7% of their earnable compensation, deducted from their pay. Members are encouraged to visit Maryland State Retirement and Pension System to learn more and to set up access to their individual MSRPS account.
To set up your MySRPS account:
- Go to https://sra.maryland.gov/
- Select the red "mySRPS Login" button on the right-hand corner of the home page.
- Select the "Register" button and follow the prompts.
Additional Retirement Savings Plan Options
Empower 403(b) Tax-Advantaged Retirement Savings Plan
In addition to membership in the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System, active SMCPS employees are eligible to contribute to a 403(b) tax-advantaged retirement savings plan. You can set up a new plan or make changes to an existing plan at any time during the year.
- Visit Empower's website to set up a new plan, make changes, or view your current plan.
- Schedule a one-on-one virtual retirement counseling session with Empower.
Corebridge 457(b) Tax-Advantaged Retirement Savings Plan
In addition to membership in the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System, active SMCPS employees are eligible to contribute to a 457(b) tax-advantaged retirement savings plan. You can set up a new plan or make changes to an existing plan at any time during the year.
