Employee and Substitute Absence Management and Training

SmartFind Express Employee User Guide

St. Mary's County Public Schools is using an automated service that greatly simplifies and streamlines the process of recording and managing absences and finding substitutes. This service is called SmartFind Express. The SmartFind Express service will be available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can be accessed via the internet and phone. SmartFind Express also has several helpful guides under the “Help” menu located in the top right corner of the SmartFind Express screen once you log in.

You can interact with SmartFind Express on the internet at Eschool solutions Here you will be able to enter absences, check your absence schedule, update PIN information, and exercise other features such as uploading your lesson plans for substitutes to view online.

You can also call SmartFind Express at 301-610-3215. Simply follow the voice menu to enter and manage absences and access other features.

The Mobile App is now available. Employees search for the Unified Talent app under PowerSchool. Substitutes search for SmartFind Express app under SmartFind Express. Use the district code SFNL.

Substitutes Sick Leave

Substitutes may be eligible to utilize earned sick leave.  Substitutes are encouraged to check the Employee Access Center (EAC) to determine if they have available any earned sick leave.  Substitutes may complete the Sick and Safe Leave Request form and submit it to Human Resources.

Vector Training (formerly SafeSchools)

All current substitute teachers, substitute secretaries, and substitute paraeducators working for St. Mary’s County Public Schools are required to take five online training courses.  These mandatory training courses are offered at no cost by St. Mary’s County Public Schools.  Follow these easy steps to complete your St. Mary's County Public Schools safety training requirements:
