Title I

Title I is a federal grant that provides academic support and assistance to students from high-poverty schools. In St. Mary’s County, we have five identified school-wide Title I programs at George Washington Carver Elementary School, Green Holly Elementary School, Greenview Knolls Elementary School, Lexington Park Elementary School, and Park Hall Elementary School.

The Department of Equity, Engagement, and Early Access is responsible for implementing and monitoring the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESSA 2015) guidelines and regulations as they relate to Title I compliance with respect to the following components: Certified Staff; Parent Involvement; School Improvement; School-wide Programs; Private Schools; Complaint Procedures; Comparability; and Fiscal and Legal Requirements.
