SMCPS is transitioning from SchoolMessenger and Smore to Apptegy.

Families will continue to receive important district and school updates by phone, text message, email, and Schoology. Apptegy text messages will be sent from 98900.

Family Communications: Apptegy Transition

St. Mary’s County Public Schools is transitioning to Apptegy, a new platform for district and school communications.

During this transition, families may notice changes to the appearance, format, or sender information associated with district and school messages. The purpose of these communications remains the same: to provide families with timely, consistent, and important information.

What Is Changing?

  • Smore will be replaced by Apptegy Newsletters.
  • SchoolMessenger will be replaced by Apptegy Alerts.

What Can Families Expect?

Families will continue to receive:

  • Regular updates from school principals by email and through Schoology.
  • Phone calls, text messages, and emails during weather-related schedule changes and other important situations.
  • District and school information through established SMCPS communication channels.

Text Message Alerts

Text messages sent through Apptegy will be delivered from:

98900

To help families identify the sender:

  • District-generated messages will begin with “SMCPS.”
  • School-generated messages will begin with the school’s abbreviation, such as “GMHS,” “MBMS,” or another school identifier.

Keep Your Contact Information Current

Accurate contact information helps ensure that you receive important district and school communications.

You can review your contact information through the Home Access Center (HAC):

To update an email address or phone number, please contact your child’s school directly.

During the Transition

Additional information will be added as the transition continues. Families may receive communications with updated branding, formatting, or sender information as schools begin using the new Apptegy tools.
