Capital Planning

St. Mary’s County Public Schools launched a comprehensive Facility Utilization and School Boundary Study “Redistricting” initiative to guide how our schools serve students and families in the years ahead.  

The school system has a dedicated website (https://www.smcps.org/redistricting) with information on the data, analysis, events, surveys, and information relating to the study and final recommendations.

The Department of Capital Planning is responsible for the development and alignment of comprehensive strategic plans for capital projects and capital outlay operating budgets, for maintaining and coordinating the process for boundary changes, for developing accurate and timely short and long-term enrollment projections, for research, development and deployment of new grant initiatives, for site analysis, approval and acquisition, and research, community involvement, and approval of school naming initiatives. The department is committed to developing equitable and fiscally responsible capital plans to enhance our schools, classrooms, and work spaces.
