SMCPS Schools Earn Gold Star Food Safety Awards

St. Mary’s County Public Schools is proud to recognize 23 schools that have received the 2025 Gold Star Achievement Award from the St. Mary’s County Health Department.

These awards are presented annually to food service facilities that demonstrate superior food safety standards.
To earn a Gold Star, schools must meet strict criteria, including:

• No critical violations
• No temperature violations during inspections
• All violations corrected within 30 days
• No confirmed unsafe food handling complaints
• Completion of an approved food safety certification
