On Friday, March 15th, 2024, the SMCPS Chopticon Academy of Performing and Visual Arts (AVPA) presented the Class of 2024 Senior Capstone Projects. The event was hosted at Chopticon High School and students presented their art and performances in front of a live audience.

AVPA members have embarked on a remarkable journey of self-discovery and artistic expression. Through countless hours of practice, rehearsals, and performances, they have honed their skills and unleashed their creativity in ways that inspire awe and admiration.

Miranda Sinclair, representing the Theatre track, showed us that stepping into different characters' shoes and bringing stories to life is no small feat. Her ability to captivate audiences with her performances is remarkable, and her dedication is evident in every line she delivers.

Representing Visual Arts were Katelyn Kelley, Landry Schlais, Noah Boone, Luke Anderson, Kaylin Hill, Aoife Gill, and Madison Marconi. From breathtaking paintings to intricate sculptures, their creations have the power to evoke emotions and spark imaginations. Their artistry enriches our lives and adds color to the world around us.

Musicians Ian Griffitts, Virginia Barbour, and Stephanie Jones are the melody makers and the heartbeat of AVPA. The vocal performances and instrumental pieces shared during the Capstone event had the audience filling the auditorium with applause.

When Mrs. Lindsay Robertson, the AVPA School Coordinator, was asked about this year's AVPA graduates in an interview, she said, “We are super happy and proud of them for all the work that they have done this year. We probably could not be more proud of these 11 seniors in terms of their work and the stuff that they were able to put out there both visually and in the performing arts! Congratulations, guys, you did it! Super proud of all of you, and best of luck in the future!”
