LEONARDTOWN, MD - St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS) will offer a series of Conscious Discipline workshops to Pre-Kindergarten families, Kindergarten families, and local childcare providers. Conscious Discipline Master Instructors, Amy Speidel and Lety Valero, are returning to SMCPS to provide multiple parent and family learning opportunities to support our youngest learners in both English and Spanish.

Participants will learn how to implement effective routines that utilize strategies based on brain science to foster self-regulation skills. These live virtual evening sessions will allow you to interact with a Conscious Discipline Master Instructor from the comfort of your home from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

This series of parent and family workshops will be conducted in English and Spanish. Several will happen simultaneously and are noted below:

Concurrent Sessions with Amy Speidel in English or Lety Valero in Spanish

●       Tuesday, February 6, 2024,  I Love You Rituals

●       Tuesday, March 5, 2024, From Chaos to Calm: Managing Temper Tantrums

Several other sessions are on separate dates, with the English sessions being held on Tuesdays and the Spanish sessions on Mondays and Thursdays.

●        Tuesday, February 13, 2024, Fostering an “I Can Do It” Attitude

Spanish Sessions with Lety Valero

●        Monday, January 29, 2024, Be a S. T. A. R.: Understand the Brain Enough to Be the One in Charge

●        Thursday, February 15, 2024, Fostering an “I Can Do It” Attitude

●        Monday, March 18, 2024, Interactive Q & A

Local childcare providers may receive Core of Knowledge credit hours if registered to attend.
