LEONARDTOWN, MD - On Thursday, May 11, 2023, there will be an in-person Conscious Discipline Childcare Provider and Family Workshop for Pre-K and Head Start families from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the St. Mary’s County Library, Leonardtown Branch, at 23630 Hayden Farm Lane in Leonardtown, Maryland 20650 (Meeting Room 1). Conscious Discipline Master Trainer, Amy Speidel, returns for a final visit this school year to St. Mary's County Public Schools (SMCPS) to provide us with behavior support as we prepare for the summer months. Registered providers are able to receive Core of Knowledge training credit through the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) for this workshop.

Participants will learn how to turn mistakes into meaningful skills through the use of consequences. Families and childcare providers will understand how to shift from autopilot to a conscious state in order to apply a logical consequence. You will also learn the three types of tattling and how to respond appropriately to a child's needs. Conscious Discipline is a proven comprehensive approach that empowers parents and caregivers with skills to create a safe, connected, and problem-solving environment, based on brain science. There will be an opportunity for Q & A with the master trainer and time to learn a new I Love You ritual to connect with your child/student.

Please register here for the 5/11/23 Conscious Discipline Workshop. You may contact Ms. Lynn Trehern, Early Childhood Instructional Resource Teacher/Coach, at pltrehern@smcps.org if you have any questions.
