LEONARDTOWN, MD – Superintendent of Schools, Dr. J. Scott Smith, announces the administrative appointment made by the Board of Education at its meeting of September 9, 2026.

The Board appointed Ms. Christen Ganley as Supervisor of Instruction - Educational Technologies and Media, 12-month, in the Department of Accountability and Reporting.  Ms. Ganley holds a Master’s Degree from Towson University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Carlow University.  Ms. Ganley currently serves as an Instructional Resource Teacher, 11-month, at the Virtual Academy.    

The Board of Education was informed of the following Administrative Transfer:

Ms. Julia Steele will transfer from Principal, 12-month, at White Marsh Elementary School to Supervisor of Human Resources, 12-month, in the Department of Human Resources. 

Ms. Ganley’s appointment will become effective on September 14, 2026. Ms. Steele’s transfer will become effective once a replacement has been secured.
