LEONARDTOWN, MD – Superintendent of Schools, Dr. J. Scott Smith, announces the administrative appointments made by the Board of Education at its meeting of  June 18, 2025.

The Board appointed Ms. Kelly Bridges as Supervisor of Instruction for English, 12 month, in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.   Ms. Bridges holds a Master’s Degree from McDaniel College and a Bachelor’s Degree from Saint Vincent College.  Ms. Bridges currently serves as an Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Leonardtown High School.

Mr. Graham Coombs has been appointed as Assistant Principal, 12 month, at Leonardtown High School.  Mr. Coombs holds a Master’s Degree from  McDaniel College and a Bachelor’s Degree from Grove City College. Mr. Graham currently serves as a Mathematics Teacher, 10 month,  at Leonardtown High School.

Ms. Cortney Dvorak has been appointed as Academic Dean, 12 month, at George Washington Carver Elementary School.  Ms. Dvorak holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and a Bachelor’s Degree from Towson University.  Ms. Dvorak currently serves as a Supervisor of Instruction, 12 month, in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. 

Mr. Christopher Dyson has been appointed as Principal, 12 month, at Ridge Elementary School.  Mr. Dyson holds a Master’s Degree from Walden University and a Bachelor’s Degree from High Point University.  Mr. Dyson currently serves as an Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Green Holly Elementary School.

Ms. Kimberly Edwards has been appointed as Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Lettie Marshall Dent Elementary School.  Ms. Edwards holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree from Towson University.  Ms. Edwards currently serves as the Acting Assistant Principal at Lettie Marshall Dent Elementary School.

Ms. LaToya Fox has been appointed as Assistant Principal, 11 month, at George Washington Carver Elementary School.  Ms. Fox holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Carolina.  Ms. Fox currently serves as an Administrative Intern, 10 month, at Spring Ridge Middle School.

Mr. Phil Longo has been appointed as Operations Coordinator, 12 month, in the Department of Operations.  Mr. Longo holds a Master’s Degree from George Mason University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Florida Atlantic University.  Mr. Longo currently serves as a Facilities Manager at TOP Golf, located in National Harbor and Alexandria.

Ms. Monique Osborne has been appointed as Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Park Hall Elementary School. Ms. Osborne holds a Master’s Degree from Bowie State University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Brooklyn College.  Ms. Osborne currently serves as a School Counselor, 10 month, at Captain Walter Francis Duke Elementary School. 

Dr. Wendy Zimmerman has been appointed as Acting Principal, 12 month, at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School. Dr. Zimmerman holds a Doctorate Degree from the University of Maryland at College Park, a Master’s Degree from Towson University, and a Bachelor’s Degree from Millersville University.  Dr. Zimmerman currently serves as Supervisor of Instruction, 12 month, in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.

The Board of Education was informed of the following Administrative Transfers:

Mr. Scott Szczerbiak will transfer from Principal, 12 month, at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School to Principal, 12 month, at Lexington Park Elementary School. 

Dr. Rebecca Schou will transfer from Principal, 12 month, at Lexington Park Elementary School to Pupil Personnel Worker, 12 month, in the Department of Student Services/Great Mills High School.  

These appointments and transfers will become effective July 1, 2025.
