The Board of Education approved an amendement to the 2024-2025 School Year Calendar to provide a make-up day for the use of inclement weather days. Schools will be in session on March 7, 2025, with a 2-hour early dismissal. To view the full school year calendar, visit www.smcps.org/calendar.

Kids Summer Meals to Go!
Duke Elementary hosted Battle of the Books, organized by their media specialist, Mary Owen. Nine elementary schools and 26 teams competed. In 1st place were the Book Bears, 2nd place was Reading Dragons, and 3rd was Snow Much Reading. The teams prepared all school year, with each team reading at least 10 books. Congratulations to all of the Battle of the Books Teams!

The Board of Education met on March 6th, 2024, to honor and recognize our amazing social workers. Their care and dedication help our students through life's complexities and trying times.
Our SMCPS social workers are trained and licensed mental health professionals who provide individual and group counseling, crisis support, and aftercare support for students returning from hospitalization and help remove mental and behavioral health barriers to academics.
