Education Based Athletics

Education-Based Athletics is a student-centered approach to educating students through participation in Interscholastic Athletics. The concept of winning, though important, should not be the primary objective.

Athletic competition is designed to provide experiences which will allow the participant to grow physically, socially, mentally, and emotionally.  It is expected that all participants display competitive spirit, outstanding sportsmanship and exemplary character through the year.  Education-Based Athletics should assist the individual participant in becoming a contributing member of society.

Participation in the program is a privilege and not a right. Often, the number of students trying out for a sport exceeds the number of places available, making the process very competitive.

The athletic program adheres to the rules and regulation of the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference, the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association, and the National Federation of State High Schools.

The Corollary Sports Program is available to students who are unable to access the interscholastic program.
