All students attending SMCPS will have the opportunity to engage in higher level thinking activities and instruction. Instruction will continue to be differentiated according to students’ needs.

Gifted and Talented Programs

Students in grades 3, 4, and 5, who have been identified as Gifted and Talented in the area of mathematics, will begin receiving instruction using supplementary materials. This instruction will be in addition to regular classroom instruction and may be delivered as part of the flexible grouping, guided math, or a pull out program.

Students who have not been formally identified as Gifted and Talented, but are highly able, will receive appropriate differentiation in the classroom or in a pull out program.
