Overview of Responsibiities:

The Executive Director of Secondary Schools and School Improvement is responsible for evaluating all secondary principals and facilitating the evaluation of secondary assistant principals using the Leadership Performance Assessment System (LPAS). This office manages the on-line observation and evalution of teachers through the use of the Teacher Performance Assessment System (TPAS).  The day-to-day operation of all secondary schools is also coordinated with the office to include data analysis relative to student achievement, attendance, and discipline archived in our Student Information System, ESchool+.

Finally, this office coordinates federal, state, and local compliance through the annual reporting in the Bridge to Excellence Annual Master Plan Update, the Race to the Top Scopes of Work, Educator Effectiveness Action Plans, and individual School Improvement Plans.

For each of these sites, the executive director works with school leadership on the following functions of the schools:

Administration – ensuring that secondary schools are working efficiently and effectively, are appropriately staffed, and have the necessary materials, processes, and procedures in place to facilitate an orderly school environment. Also ensure that all principals and assistant principals are well placed, trained, and supported in their positions.

Accountability  assisting schools as they continue to improve and increase achievement for every child, meet student needs, and ensure that federal and state mandates are met. Facilitate use of the Student Information System (SIS) and all needed data reporting for system, state, and federal reporting. Oversee the SMCPS Master Plan and indivual annual School Improvement Plans,

Advisement developing and fostering academic and programmatic initiatives in secondary schools, including:
