Revised Procedure for Child Find

Beginning 3/1/2012, all children who are referred to the Department of Special Education Child Find Team will need to be officially registered with the St. Mary's County Public schools. Families will be instructed to complete the registration at the school that is considered to be the resident school for the child (where child would attend based upon their home address).
Once the registration is completed and verified by the residence school registration secretary, the SMCPS Child Find Specialist will complete the Child Find intake from the family or from the referring agency.
This change in procedure is in response to recent reporting requirements on behalf of the Maryland State Department of Education.
