Welcome to the Wonderful World of Mathematics at EMS!!!

The mathematics department at Esperanza Middle School would like to welcome our students and parents to another exciting school year. As the beginning of the 2006-2007 school approaches, we look forward to working with and meeting all of you!

6th Grade Ms Reuter, Ms Thorstensen, Mr. Sweeney, Mr. Modrzejewski

During the first quarter, 6th grade will be working on number concepts such as multiples, factors, fractions, decimals, percents and algebraic thinking.

7th Grade Mr. Paskvan, Ms Brong, Ms Alcantara, Mr. Burns, Mr. Schaeffer

During the first quarter, 7th grade will be working on operations with positive and negative numbers and the following algebraic concepts; multiple representations and problem solving using graph tables and equations.

8th Grade Ms Brong, Ms Lewis, Mr. Burns, Mr. Schaeffer

During the first quarter, 8th grade will be working on Data and Statistics, including representing and interpreting data using multiple representation such as stem & leaf plots, box and whiskers, and circle graphs. Algebraic concepts will include solving problems using graphs, tables and charts and determining slope and y intercept.
