What do I need to register my child for school?

You will need to come to the office during school hours with the following:
Birth certificate
Immunization record
Social Security card or number
Proof of residency (one of the following with the address)
Deed, mortgage paper, or rental agreement
Building contract
Current property tax bill
Pax River housing form 

How do I arrange a conference with my child’s teachers?

If you want a conference with only one teacher, contact that teacher directly by calling school (301-863-4016 ext. 0) and leaving a message.

If you want a conference with all of your child’s teachers, contact the appropriate counselor.
Mr. Leo (ext. 5) handles 6th graders and 7th graders (A-M).
Ms. Beasley (ext. 4) handles 7th graders (N-Z) and 8th graders.

How do I find out about delays and closing due to weather?

Local radio and TV stations are notified of the status of school opening by 6:00 am. Please listen to the local stations for updated information. In the event of school closing early or dismissal, schools will be closed for all after-school and evening activities.


How do I contact the school nurse?

Call EMS and choose extension 1.

 

What is Pirates Club?

Pirates Club is an after-school program for identified students. It is sponsored by a grant from the Local Management Board. Students are identified based on assessment scores and teacher recommendation. Membership is limited to 100 students.

Students participate in an academic lesson followed by homework time and an activity of their choice.

The hours are from 2:15 to 4:15 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Bus transportation is provided to take students home.

Pirates Club will not take place on the day before a holiday or the week of Dec. 20 th – 24 th.
