ADMINISTRATIVE APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED

 

 

LEONARDTOWN, MD Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Michael J. Martirano , announces administrative appointments made by the Board of Education at its meeting of July 8, 2009.

 

The Board appointed Ms. Glenna Edwards to the position of assistant principal at Esperanza Middle School where she currently serves as the teacher-in-charge.  Ms. Edwards, who joined the school system in 1990 as a geography and social studies teacher at Leonardtown Middle School, returned in 2007 after serving as a history teacher in the Calvert County Public School System, at Grace Lutheran Middle School in La Plata, MD, and in the Sierra Sands Unified School District in Ridgecrest, CA. She earned a Master of Education degree in education technology from Towson University and a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from Frostburg State University.

 

Additionally, the Board appointed Ms. Kate Eggert to the position of 12-month pupil personnel worker in the Department of Student Services and Academic Support.  Ms. Eggert currently serves as a guidance counselor at Chopticon High School.  Her experience also includes serving as a therapeutic support staff member with Pennsylvania Counseling Services in Carlisle, PA; a program assistant with Shippensburg University Women’s Center in Shippensburg, PA; and a job coach with Occupational Services, Inc. in Chambersburg, PA. Ms. Eggert obtained a Master’s degree in counseling and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Shippensburg University.

 

Ms. Charisse Johnson was also named a 10-month pupil personnel worker in the Department of Student Services and Academic Support. Ms. Johnson most recently served as a pupil personnel worker in the Prince George’s County Public School System. Her experience also includes serving as an education specialist and an adoption social worker with the Child and Family Services Agency in Washington, DC; and an adoption social worker with Family and Child Services of Washington Inc.  Ms. Johnson obtained a Master’s degree in social work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore and a Bachelor’s degree in social work from Bowie State University.

 

These appointments become effective immediately.
