PRESS RELEASE
Vallandingham Named
St. mary’s
History Day is a national program that promotes the study of
history while providing a forum at
which students compete for excellence in one of several categories:
documentary, performance, exhibit, website, and historical paper.
Students are divided into a junior and senior group.
The junior division consists of grades six through eight, while the senior
division consists of grades nine through twelve.
Ms. Vallandingham is very deserving of this honor of promoting
and integrating History Day within the social studies curriculum.
She encouraged and motivated her students to undertake this rigorous challenge
as they examined topics that focused on an individual and their action and legacies. Ms. Vallandingham implemented instructional
strategies to assist students so they could reach their personal goals and experience
success as they developed their research and critical thinking skills.
These efforts demonstrate Ms. Vallandingham’s vested efforts in student success
and maintaining high expectations for her students.
