ADMINISTRATIVE APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED

LEONARDTOWN, MD – Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Michael J. Martirano , announces administrative appointments made by the Board of Education at its meeting of May 13, 2009.

The Board appointed Ms. Andrea Owens to the position of principal at Dynard Elementary School where she has served as interim principal since Principal Kim Summers assumed her new position as principal of Evergreen Elementary School last month.  Prior to being named interim principal, Ms. Owens served as an assistant principal at Dynard.  Her experience also includes serving as an instructional resource teacher, a mentor teacher, and a 4^th and 5^th grade classroom teacher. She is a graduate of Towson University , earning a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1998 and 1995 respectively.

The Board also appointed Ms. Wauchilue Jackson-Snyder to the position of elementary principal (school to be determined).  Ms. Jackson-Snyder is currently serving as an elementary principal in the Wicomico County Public School System.  Her experience also includes serving as an assistant principal and a Spanish teacher. She obtained a Master of Education degree in guidance and counseling from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Spanish and sociology from Hood College .

Mr. Todd D’Imperio was named assistant principal at Esperanza Middle School .  Mr. D’Imperio currently serves as a special education teacher in the Learning Adjustment Program at Spring Ridge Middle School .  Since joining the school system in 1997, he has also served as a pre-school special education program team lead and a community-based instruction teacher.  He obtained a Master of Science degree in curriculum and instruction from McDaniel College and a Bachelor of Science degree in special education from the State University of New York in Plattsburgh, NY .

Additionally, the Board named Mr. Tyler Radez to the position of assistant principal at Margaret Brent Middle School where he recently served as the teacher in charge.  Mr. Radez, who joined the school system in 1998 as a 3^rd grade paraprofessional, has also served as an adapted physical education teacher.  He earned a Master of Arts degree in human resources and development from Towson University and a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from Cortland College in Cortland, NY .

The Board also named Ms. Stephanie Langton to the position of 10-month school psychologist in the Department of Student Services. Ms. Langton currently serves as a school psychologist intern with the Charles County Public School (CCPS) System.  Her experience also includes serving as a substitute teacher and administrative assistant in CCPS, and an assistant teacher with the Phillips Program for Children and Families in Annandale, VA. She earned her Master of Arts degree in school psychology from Bowie State University and her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Longwood University in Farmville, VA.

These appointments are effective July 1, 2009.
