PRESS RELEASE

Maryland Physical Education Demonstration School

Town Creek Elementary School has been selected as a Maryland Physical Education Demonstration School for 2009-2011.  This recognition is awarded to schools whose physical education programs are considered to be exemplary, and thus model programs in the state. Town Creek Elementary School first obtained Demonstration status for 2007-2009.

On April 20, 2009, a three-person school visitation team comprised of professional physical educators from other Maryland school systems conducted an onsite visit to assess the school’s application, and the overall physical education program.  Applicants are to include three Exemplary Features, and provide evidence of Quality Teaching; Philosophy; Organization and Administration; Curriculum and Planning; Assessment and Evaluation; Professionalism; and Facilities, Equipment, and Supplies.

Ms. Debbie S. Settle has developed a physical education program that addresses the needs of students of all abilities.  She is to be commended on this outstanding achievement and we hope that many physical education teachers from across the state will choose to visit the school to witness outstanding instruction and a commitment to providing students with the skills and knowledge needed to be physically active for a lifetime.
