BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL…WHAT’S AVAILABLE FOR MY CHILD?

 

LEONARDTOWN , MD – St. Mary’s County Public Schools’ Department of Special Education, through a grant for transitioning youth, is sponsoring a transition conference luncheon on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Exploration III Conference Center on Exploration Drive in Lexington Park, MD , for parents of middle school and high school students who receive special education services.

 Parents will enjoy lunch as guest speakers present information on funding and services that may be available for students after they transition out of high school.  Guest speakers include: The ARC, Attorney Joann Wood, The Center for Life Enrichment, The College of Southern Maryland, The Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS), Melwood, Mental Health Authority, Parents’ Place of Maryland, Resource Coordination, Social Security Administration, St. Mary’s Transit System, and United Cerebral Palsy.  In addition, parents who have gone through this process will speak about their child’s experience transitioning out of high school.
