School Counseling Services

Program Description: Within the philosophy and definition of the school guidance program there are three broad goals. They are as follows:
  • To facilitate the personal and academic growth of all students
  • To ensure the development of effective educational and career decision-making skills of all students
  • To promote the development of interpersonal skills among all students.
  • The guidance program is an integral component of the Maryland School Performance Program. It is a developmentally appropriate and sequentially planned program for all students. The counseling program addresses issues such as academic performance, appropriate school behavior, interpersonal relationships, self-concept and career planning. Delivery of these services is facilitated through individual and group counseling, consultation with parents and school staff, classroom guidance, participation on various school teams and through contacts with community agency representatives.
