Summer School Rules of Conduct
The summer school program, which offers review courses for high school students who have not earned passing grades, will be held at Leonardtown High School on the following dates
2007 FIRST SEMESTER - June 21-July 9
2007 SECOND SEMESTER - July 10-25
Register with your counselor at your own school from Tuesday, May 1 through Friday, June 15 for first semester classes and any second semester classes you know at that time you will need to make up.
Final registration for FIRST SEMESTER classes will be held on June 18 and June 19 at Leonardtown High School from 7:30 a.m. until noon. You may also register for any second semester classes you know you will need to make up.
Final registration for SECOND SEMESTER classes will be held on July 2 and July 3 at Leonardtown High School from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Full payment must be made when you register. There will be no registration on the first day of summer school.
You must bring documentation that proves your need for review of any class for which you wish to register. This documentation may be in the form of your report card, transcript, and/or letter from your counselor indicating which courses you need to make up. Students may only register for courses in which they have received a final grade of D or E. Courses may not be taken for original credit.
The high school summer school program is planned for public and nonpublic high school students presently enrolled in grades 9-12 who:
1. have received a grade of E in a course, or
2. have completed a course with a grade of D and wish to improve their skills.
Courses may not be taken for original credit.
All classes will be held at Leonardtown High School.
First semester: June 21 to July 9
Second semester: July 10 to July 25
First period – 8:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
Second period – 10:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
Classes will be dismissed early after semester exams on July 9 and July 25.
First period – 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
Second period – 9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

Students are expected to follow all summer school rules. The rules are attached and must be signed and retained at registration.
Textbooks will be loaned to students for the duration of summer school. Students will be held responsible for lost or damaged textbooks.
Final grades will be mailed at the end of the second semester.
Full payment is due at the time of registration. No registration will be accepted without payment. Checks and money orders should be made payable to: ST. MARY’S COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS. INCLUDE THE STUDENT’S NAME AND PHONE NUMBER ON THE CHECK.
Fees per semester, per class, for review courses are:
- $75 for students registered in a school in St. Mary’s County
- $150 for students not registered in a school in St. Mary’s County.
In the event a summer school student is withdrawn from the program for any reason, including attendance, a full refund will be given to the student if the request is made by the following dates:
First semester – June 26 (final date to withdraw)
Second semester – July 13 (final date to withdraw)
Refunds will NOT be issued for any violation of the rules or if the student is withdrawn after the final withdrawal dates. All books must be returned before a refund will be issued.
All refunds will be issued after July 30.
Parents are responsible for providing transportation. All students must be dropped off and picked up at the student drop-off area located near the front of Leonardtown High School. Summer school students will use the entrance at the rear of the building. Parents will also be responsible for transporting students to locations necessary for Student Service-Learning.
All students driving to school will be assigned parking spaces and will be issued parking permits. Disregard of parking regulations may cause the student to lose his/her driving privileges or to be withdrawn from summer school.
