National Junior Honor Society

National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a service organization that recognizes outstanding students within a middle school. NJHS is affiliated with the National Honor Society in the High school. Each organization is operated independently yet has criteria which is similar. Each organization focuses on scholarship, service, leadership, and character. The NJHS also has a strong focus on citizenship.

Students who are eligible for induction are presented with a packet to be completed that demonstrates the key characteristics of the organization. Each completed packet should contain specific experiences that include verifiable evidence of:

  • Academic excellence - 3.5 Cumulative GPA

  • Experience in leadership roles

  • Service to the community

  • Good citizenship

  • Participation in school activities

Completed packets are returned to the faculty sponsor and shared with a faculty council. This council reviews all the completed packets and selects those students who will be inducted into the society during their eighth grade year.
