Characteristics of a Gifted Learner:

* Demonstrates superior reasoning powers and marked ability to handle abstractions
* Shows persistent intellectual curiosity
* Shows ability to make connections and establish relationships among disparate data
* Demonstrates superior written/spoken vocabulary
* Reads avidly and absorbs books well beyond his or her years
* Displays ability to memorize well and learn rapidly
* Shows creative ability or imaginative expression in the areas of music, art, dance, and drama
* Demonstrates insight into arithmetical problems that require careful reasoning and grasps mathematical concepts readily
* Sustains concentration for lengthy periods
* Observes keenly and is responsive to new ideas
* Shows flexibility in thinking and considers problems from a number of viewpoints
* Is self-critical in evaluating and correcting his or her own efforts
