LEONARDTOWN, MD – Tryouts for high school fall sports will commence on August 11, 2012. Students wishing to tryout are expected to be present from day one, if they wish to be considered for a place on the team.

Please contact your high school for specific information on times to hand in paperwork; tryout times and locations; and equipment needed for your chosen sport. A “Guide for Student Athletes and Parents” is available in the main office at the high school, as well as under “Forms” at http://www.smcps.org/tlpd/tl/athletics. Additional information may also be posted on the high school’s website.

All student-athletes are required to have a physical clearing them for high school sports prior to trying out, as well as an “Authorization for Participation in Interscholastic Athletics” form completed and signed by a parent/guardian.

Except for incoming ninth graders, all student-athletes must also provide evidence of being academically eligible to participate. Therefore, returning students should bring with them a copy of their last marking period grade report, indicating a grade point average of 2.0 or better.

Further information on the high school sports program may be found at: http://www.smcps.org/tlpd/tl/athletics.
