LEONARDTOWN, MD – The St. Mary’s County Health Department announced the recipients of the Gold Star Achievement Awards given annually to food services facilities that achieve superior food safety standards. St. Mary’s County Public Schools received 23 awards for 2017. An awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chesapeake Room, located in the Chesapeake Building at 41770 Baldridge Street in Leonardtown, Maryland.
The requirements to earn the Gold Star are:
- No critical violations
- No temperature violations cited during a monitoring inspection
- All violations noted by an inspector must be corrected by a 30-day follow-up inspection
- No confirmed unsafe food handling complaints
- At least one food service worker completed a recognized and approved “Food Service Sanitarian and Safety Class” within the last two years.
