LEONARDTOWN, MD - Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Michael J. Martirano, announces the administrative appointments made by the Board of Education at its meeting of December 12, 2012.

The Board appointed Mr. Norman “Bo” Carpenter as Principal of Oakville Elementary School. Mr. Carpenter joined St. Mary's County Public Schools in August 2006 as Assistant Principal at Hollywood Elementary. He has also served as Assistant Principal at Greenview Knolls Elementary and most recently as Acting Principal at Oakville Elementary. Before joining St. Mary's County Public Schools, Mr. Carpenter served as an Assistant Principal and teacher in Virginia. Prior to teaching, he was an officer in the United States Navy. He holds Bachelor degrees from Eastern Kentucky University and the College of Santa Fe as well as a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from George Mason University.

Ms. Beth Ramsey was appointed by the Board as Principal of White Marsh Elementary School. Ms. Ramsey joined St. Mary's County Public Schools in November 2011 as Assistant Principal at George Washington Carver Elementary. She has also served as Assistant Principal at Banneker Elementary and most recently as Acting Principal at White Marsh Elementary. Before joining St. Mary's County Public Schools, Ms. Ramsey taught fifth and third grades at Jenifer Elementary in Charles County Public Schools. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College of Maryland as well as a Master’s degree and Administrative certification from Towson University.

The Board appointed Ms. Emily Mais as Assistant Principal of Greenview Knolls Elementary School. Ms. Mais joined St. Mary's County Public Schools in August 2005 as an Art teacher at Dynard Elementary School. She has also served most recently as Acting Assistant Principal at Greenview Knolls Elementary. Ms. Mais holds a Bachelor’s degree from Salisbury University and a Master’s degree from the University of Maryland. She earned her Administrative certification from Towson University.

Mr. Christopher Dyson was appointed as Assistant Principal of Benjamin Banneker Elementary School. Mr. Dyson joined St. Mary's County Public Schools in August 2002 as a Special Education Para Educator at Green Holly Elementary. He has also served as a Special Education teacher at Green Holly Elementary and Elementary Education teacher at Dynard Elementary. He is currently an Elementary Education teacher at Evergreen Elementary. Mr. Dyson holds a Bachelor’s degree from High Point University and a Master’s degree from Walden University. He earned his Administrative certification from Towson University.
