St. Mary's County has a population of 105,151, with a student enrollment of approximately 17,841.  Our system employs 2,200 certificated and non-certificated staff.  The county's 27 public schools include 18 elementary schools, one Public Charter school, four middle schools, three high schools, and one career and technology center.  The system also provides a comprehensive special education program for students ages birth through 21, an alternative program, middle and high school summer school programs.

Our system offers a very competitive teacher salary structure with a beginning salary of $40,278 (2015-2016 salary).

St. Mary's County Public Schools offers a comprehensive benefit package which includes: credit for prior teaching experience; tuition reimbursement $2,900 per year; 10 days of advanced sick leave per year and 3 days of personnel leave if needed; paid holidays and vacations; Employee Assistance Program; insurance - hospitalization, surgical, dental, vision, prescription card, major medical and life insurance programs.
