National Academy of Finance
The National Academy of Finance, housed at Chopticon High School, is a School of Business Finance and Management. Academy students develop professional skills, receive specialized instruction in business finance and management, and gain an awareness of the marketable skills needed to be successful in the field. The students may also acquire practical experience via field trips, internship opportunities, and course projects. The program of study for the Academy represents a partnership between the Maryland State Department of Education and the National Academy Foundation.
Unique learning experiences unique to the NAOF include the opportunity to earn college credit through AP courses as well as the opportunity to work with a skilled and knowledgeable Program Advisory Council, a group of business and community partners that mentor the students. Students develop the transferable skills (analytical, technical, presentation, higher-order thinking, problem solving, and communication) that are paramount to college and career success as well as success in business-related fields.
